ABOUT

Evelyn Calhoon is a photographer, filmmaker, and drone pilot. She loves to learn by doing and ever since her dad introduced her to the family camera, Evelyn’s nickname became “Freddie Flash Bulb.”

Exploring the Sierra Nevadas every year instilled a sense of wonder and respect for wild landscapes. During her gap year, before attending Brown University, Evelyn knew she had to follow this curiosity and trek to places no one has been before — mountaineering and documenting unknown peaks in Patagonia, Chile.

As Evelyn continues to seek out untamed places, she often questions her own identity within them. She questions her impact on their sustainability. She wonders about who lived there first and the effect of colonial history on Indigenous lives. She reflects on who is allowed to explore and feel safe in nature and who is not.

Whether through personal endeavors, like Project: Twelve, or creating content on behalf of organizations she’s involved with, like Project: Workout for BLM for Brown Women’s Soccer, Evelyn uses her skills and vision to continue pushing the needle towards a more open-minded, just, and sustainable world.
